The house was quiet now. Aria stood in the empty living room, looking at the shadows that had been dancing just moments ago. She felt a presence, soft and gentle this time.
“Aria…”
She turned and saw Siya, glowing faintly in the dim light. No anger. No rage. Just the girl she had known.
“I ....... I can rest now,” Siya said softly, her voice trembling. “Thank you… for never forgetting me.”
Tears.... blurred Aria’s vision. She ran forward and hugged the ghost tightly. “I will always love you. I never stopped loving you. I missed you every day.”
Siya’s arms wrapped around her, warm for just a moment. “I know… I always knew.”
Aria stepped back, holding Siya’s face in her hands. “You’re finally free. You don’t have to haunt me anymore.”
Siya smiled faintly, a little like the girl who had once been shy and scared behind the apartment door. “I’m free… because of you. And now… I can go.”
Aria’s chest ached. “I don’t want to say goodbye.”
“I have to,” Siya said. Her form began to glow brighter and brighter, filling the room with soft light. “But remember… I am always with you. In your heart. In every memory. And one day, when you close your eyes, you’ll feel me smile.”
Aria whispered, “Goodbye… my best friend.”
The light faded. Siya was gone. The room was still, quiet, warm in a way that felt like peace.
Aria sank to her knees, hugging herself. Tears fell freely, but there was a sense of relief too. Her best friend, her lost sister in spirit, was finally at rest.
Later that night, Aria sat on her balcony, looking at the stars. She whispered to the sky, “I will never forget you, Siya. Never.”
And somewhere, beyond the world, she felt a soft warmth. A smile she knew belonged to her friend.
It was a happy ending. It was a sad ending.
But it was finally an ending.
